THE TRUFFLE FORESTS OF POGGIO MAIOLO
A Living Legacy of Flavor and Biodiversity
___
Nestled in the rolling hills of Montone, Poggio Maiolo is home to an extraordinary ecological project where nature and gastronomy flourish in harmony. In partnership with the University of Perugia, the Fortunati Family cultivated two dedicated truffle forests — meticulously planted with native oak trees and carefully infused with spores from three of Italy’s most prized truffle varieties: the delicate Bianchetto Marzolino White Truffle, the rich and aromatic Black Truffle, and the earthy Scorzone Estivo Summer Truffle.
This pioneering initiative is more than a pursuit of culinary excellence—it’s a commitment to restoring and enhancing biodiversity across our woodland hills. Each forest is a living testament to sustainable cultivation, scientific collaboration, and the timeless allure of the truffle.
Visitors are invited to experience the beauty of the landscape, learn about our ecological methods, and witness the quiet magic of truffle cultivation at its finest.
